Photo: Buck Scores 450
Posted by DDH Staff

Check out the head gear. Now that's a crown.

They figure he'll only end up scoring around 450-470. Won't make 500", but still will beat 436 which is Rolex, the current biggest deer in the world. Poor deer.

Looks like something you would see at one of those fancy fashion runway shows. Shoot, he could tear up a small forest with a good rub. As my wife would say 'Now that's a hood ornament'.

Can someone explain what the heck they are doing to these deer? There is no way that I believe this deer just miraculously grew these antlers without human intervention. I think this has kinda gotten out of control.

But what if human did intervene, I guess its no different than Viagra. That buck knows everyone and everything are looking at him in amazement. Do you really think he minds?? And imagine how someone will fill bagging him during season?? What ever human may have done, let me know. I’ll do the same on my farm.

It is amazing what can be done to an animal that is raised in a cage under protected conditions. This deer is not ever going to be hunted. Its all about money and genetics.
Friday, July 31, 2009 6:09:19 PM (GMT Daylight Time, UTC+01:00)
Whatever happen to seeing a great ten or twelve pointer out along the corn field in mid summer while you're a kid bailing hay?? Driving home in the evening and seeing that great eight pointer on the next door neighbors property headed towards the fields you hunt?? The hole point of us hunting these beautiful and majestic animals is to admire and appreciate the amazing animal mother nature has graciously given us to enjoy weather it be hunting, photography, or just simply watching them bound across the field. I mean this is just bleeping ridiculous!! Along with viagra (if you cant rise to the occasion hey that's your problem so deal with it like a man) and all the other biological and genetic altering products and money hungry bleeps deserve a good old fashion @#& kickin!! ........ NO, I am not an old relic of hunting days or a bunny hugger, I am a 32 year old that loves to eat venison and hell I even have a couple of racks on the wall but, man get back to what matters!! The pure enjoyment of them!!!

If I have a choice between a twelve point tipical and this one, I would shoot the tipical one and let this one go.

I'm a 56 year old hunter, that has taken many many deer, and I always thought that they put freaks in the side shows at the circus. And that is all that this is, it is a genetic freak, with $$ and mans Stupidity. I did not go to the side shows at the circus and I would not pay 1 good old red american cent to see something like this.
Makes me wonder, who would??
And what might be wrong, with them.??
I'll take a nice 8, 10, 12 pt.any day and the pleasure of REAL HUNTING, IN THE NATURAL WOODS FOR NATURAL DEER...
Feeling sorry for the deer and the company's that pay for this kind of crap. And I might add with our hard earned money. when they could be lowering $$.

This poor animal is nothing more than an experiment with the mad doctors Frankenstein. This " Deer " is a mutant that will keep producing these size ( Racks ) year after year because it will never drop it's antlers. The mad drs. have genetically altered its testicles to be this way. This animal should be felt sorry for not praised. I'm a hunter of 50 plus years not a tree hugger and am happy with the way Mother Nature provides us with the real trophys, and not with human help.

Well, anyone can do what they want on their own property. That is what is great about this country. If they want to see how big they can get a deers antlers then so be it. It is not like they are shooting it up with steroids. They are simply feeding it the right nutritions to make it reach it's full potential. Yes, you will not see a deer like this running out in the wild, but it is a site to see.

Well, I can see alot of people do not anything about the deer raising business !!!
I work with different guys who raise deer. And I have raised deer myself. And I can tell you there is no "magical secret' or steroids making these deer. These huge breeder buck are a result of great feed and even better selected breeding.
Let me remark on a few of the posts above.
Hank, you couldn't shoot this buck for $350,000.00 not along $ 35,00.00. These bucks are worth more than that alive.
Stan Z. This buck shed his antlers every year. He does not keep adding to it. Nobody has "altered his testicles". That has got to be the best line I have ever heard for reason for big antlers !!
Somebody please tell me what the difference is raising these deer for a business compared to raising high pedigree beef or horses ??

I have been following this buck's development all spring/summer. You can view weekly pics by going to www.farmingforwildlife.com and clicking on "watch him grow". It's amazing that he is only 3 1/2 yrs old! last year at 2 1/2 he sported just over 400", it may have been 406 +/-... I can't wait to see him at 4 1/2, 5 1/2 and 6 1/2 yrs of age!
Question to all thoses who are against man's intervention with "mother nature", Do you go to a doctor when you or one of your kids is sick? Do you use prescription and/or over the counter medicines? Do you or your kids take vitamin supplements? Do you feed your kids the very best food that you can afford so they can reach their full potential? Have you ever had any surgery?
I have no problem with maximizing the genetic potential God coded into this buck's genes.

I like big bucks along with the next guy. Yes I take the kids to the doctor and yes I want them to be healthy! My point is we are loosing site of the natural order of things these days and something needs to wake us all up about playing God with genetics. No these animals are not on steroids, but the products that they are fed does alter there genetics by opening there full potential. IF they were to grow naturally they most likely would never reach 450 at 4 1/2 years or any stage. Some bucks never reach their full potential and these feeds unlock that ability. Its not natural, its not random, something in nature doesn't take the process. By doing this we are taking the rarity of natures natural trophies.

This is a shame. I completely agree with using differant types of supplements(feed)to enhance the buck growth on my property, but I'm sure there was a little more than that used here. What is the world coming to, when a nice natural buck is just not good enough anymore, so we torcher animals like this to get a bigger head on the wall.

Tortured ???? Give me a break !! These deer live a better life than the wild deer. They get great food and live a stress free life beside breeding does. And speaking of feed, you & I can buy the same exact feed that they feed to these deer. There is no "magic" mineral or feed. Yes, they get a higher protein feed than most deer will get in the wild.
You want to know the "secret" ? These deer get/have what every deer needs to reach each owns potential, age, feed & genetics. These deer are the products of selective breeding for years, which will hardly ever happen in the wild. You just can't get the best bloodline doe in the wild to always be bred by the best bloodline buck.

I have read enough articles on many of these type of bucks with these type of antler growth and all of the articles state that when a male deer has a injury to one or both of it's testicles that antler deformity is the result. The deer DO NOT drop their antlers as a more physically fit deer would but just keep adding to it.

c'mon Stan, do you you know if THIS buck hurt is "boys" ?
IF a deer injureds himself like you describe, then yes you & your articles are correct. BUT, just because a buck grows 300-500 inches DOES NOT mean he injured his bean bag !!! If a buck is injured like you say, he will never shed his velvet either. Well this buck does!
I know for a fact that this deer shed his antlers the last two years. If you like I can send you pics of this buck in hard antler to prove his nuts were not "altered" to make him grow this way.
You keep reading your articles and guessing what "magical" or "doctored" way these bucks grow. And I will keep working with these buck first hand and in person and go on what I see with my own eyes.
I am not saying you are wrong about the articles you read, cause your not. But you are wrong in thinking if a buck grows this big, the only reason can be because he is injured or altered some how.

I am 16 ive been in the wodds hunting since i was 10, yea im inexsperienced but i think that if its this guys ground and deer he can do whatever he wants to its a free country and people need to mind there own business. Dont u people hav something better to do than critisize a guy for making what will probably b a scientific break through. Congrats to the guy who owns this buck i wish it was me. And if everybody knew wats in the food u eat ud hav a diff opinion about feeding deer things look up the ingredients in diet soda, they wont sell it in Europe because ITS PROVEN TO CAUSE CANCER!!!!!!

Tom,I don't think God "coded" anything into this buck's genetics. This buck's rack is obviously the result of years of selective breeding. The name farming for wildlife gives this away. The people at farming for wildlife know that deer farms and breeders all across the country will pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for this deer's offspring. This is strictly about the almighty dollar. I'm sure we will start to see high fence hunting operators start to advertise that their deer are from the bloodline of this particular buck. I guess the next step will be to start cloning these deer, that way every breeder can have one just like him! The commercialization of the whitetail is destroying hunting. They are turning whitetail hunting into a rich man's game. It seems like the only thing people are concerned about anymore is how big is the rack, and what will it score. Brad D.

Hi guys. Greatness is more than potential. It is the execution of that potential. Beyond the raw talent. You need the appropriate training. You need the discipline. You need the inspiration. You need the drive.
I am from Norway and learning to write in English, give true I wrote the following sentence: "saratoga springs spray foam insulation."
